Maryam (Maya) Tohidi is an Iranian-born multimedia artist, who has lived and worked in Iran, Canada, UK and the US. Like her  personal journey across continents and cultures, her artistic process pulls from and blurs the boundaries of different mediums, often juxtaposing soft and hard, old and new. Her work is exploratory, personal and reflective. The use of objects with a previous life gives Tohidi’s work a nostalgic quality, while layering memories, poetry, letters and journals make them deeply personal. Maryam's artwork often reflects on inherent fragility as well as the growth opportunities of immigration and living between different cultures.
